Brexit and .fr domain names
Since Brexit came into effect, natural persons residing in the United Kingdom and legal entities having their headquarters in that territory can no longer apply to register a .fr domain name.
On January 26, 2021, AFNIC ( French Association for Internet Naming in Cooperation), the association whose mission is to manage .fr domain names, recalled the consequences of Brexit on eligibility for .fr domain names.
Thus, since Brexit came into effect, natural persons residing in the United Kingdom and legal persons having their headquarters in that territory can no longer request the registration of a .fr domain name.
For people who held a .fr domain name before Brexit came into effect, nothing changes and they do not need to change their address, as the rules are not retroactive.
